Statement:

My art consists of a variety of subjects which corresponds with my identity and interests. I primarily create portraits and landscapes that are drawn from my own life experiences, as well as my family and their life. As a young child, I would draw everything around me. I used art as a way of expression; to communicate what I loved, how I felt, or what I dreamed of. As I got older, I began exploring new subject matter and experimenting with different media.

Watercolor is my primary medium and I also enjoy making mixed media work. I like having the freedom to use multiple mediums in one piece. It helps create a different meaning to my work and allows me to explore new techniques and approaches to my art. When I use multiple mediums, I often combine realistic elements with illustrative and abstract elements as a way to further emphasize the ideas I’m trying to communicate. I want to be able to create different worlds and have fun with my work while representing certain aspects of my life.
